First, let me give a big thank you to everyone who made purchases during the month of September! As promised, we've taken 10% of the gross (plus added a little extra to make a nice round number) and made a donation to the Red Cross, earmarked for western wildfire relief.
As we previously mentioned, we were absolutely devastated by the extent of the wildfires this year. Not that they're ever something to be ignored, but certainly this year was historically bad. This year also affected us personally like never before as we watched family members and friends evacuate and then spent a solid week hiding in our homes, trying to avoid the toxic air.
Fortunately, the worst of the immediate fire danger has passed (at least along the West Coast--we see you Colorado and Utah and are keeping you in our thoughts!), but that means it's time to clean things up and rebuild. In the meantime, there are thousands without homes up and down the coast, and countless Red Cross workers and other volunteers doing their best to help out.
Our donation may not be huge, but we're grateful that we can give back during this trying time.
Again, thank you to everyone who made a purchase and to those of you who donated directly and volunteered to help out with relief efforts. And, of course, a huge, huge thank you to the men and women who have been out there actively fighting these fires. We'd be lost without you.
